P3 Develops the Ferrari of Tennis Shoes with K-Swiss

As a leader in applied sports science, Peak Performance Project (P3) is always pursuing innovative ways to develop better athletes. To help our athletes train and perform with more energy and stamina, we leveraged our sports science knowledge to advise on the development of FRS, an all natural energy drink that maximizes athletic activity.  P3 has also developed recovery drinks that give our athletes what they need after an intensive workout.  Everything we do is geared toward helping our athletes reach their peak potential through science-based methods. Our most recent means of gaining a competitive edge for our athletes through applied sports science is the development of a new Tennis shoe. The K-SWISS BIGSHOT.

Dr. Marcus Elliott and P3 developed the Bigshot for the biomechanical needs of elite athletes, like Gael Monfils.

The shoe is the one piece of equipment that significantly affects athletic movement, so we partnered with K-SWISS and applied cutting-edge knowledge of biomechanics to build a better tennis shoe. At P3, we believe that shoes need to be a natural extension of an athlete’s biomechanics, and with this in mind we began testing all of the leading tennis shoes on the market.

During testing and development, P3 used the same objective tools we use to assess athletes to assess the performance of each shoe on our professional athletes’ movements, with the individual athlete being the constant. Throughout the series of biomechanical tests we used high speed video analysis and motion capture, as well as force plate technology to measure various shoes effects on an athlete’s ability to make ground contacts, get in and out of cuts, accelerate, as well as create horizontal and vertical forces.

After testing and analysis, P3 advised K-SWISS on what was needed to create a shoe that acted as a natural extension of an athlete. K-SWISS returned to the P3 laboratory with a shoe that was 30% lower to the ground and that more accurately matched the biomechanical needs of tennis players. Then, we ran the new shoe through the same series of tests with the same variables. What we’ve developed is the absolute fastest, most explosive shoe that P3 had ever tested; a shoe that provides everything that our professional athletes need in terms of athletic movements, durability and stability.

The increased speed and power the Bigshot provides is already leading to superior athletic performance and better results. The Bryan Brothers who wear the Bigshot, just finished winning their 9th Grand Slam doubles title at the US Open.  Vera Zvonerava, who also wears the Bigshot, will play for the Women’s singles title tonight.  Top tennis players Gael Monfils, Mardy Fish and Sam Querrey, also wore the Bigshot during the Open.

Check out the K-SWISS Bigshot video featuring P3 Founder and Director, Dr. Marcus Elliott, explaining how we tested and developed the Bigshot, along with professional tennis players Mardy Fish, Sam Querrey, Mike and Bob Bryan discussing their new competitive advantage.

Gael Monfils, also a KSwiss athlete, will be at P3 to meet with Dr. Elliott and the P3 performance specialists. Monfils is currently ranked 11th and has been in the top 15 for three straight years.
